AGREEMENT W I T H PORTLAND CEMENT ASSOCIATION FOR INVESTIGATION OF RIGID FRAME STRUCTURES (9) A report that the period of the agreement with the Portland Cement Association for a cooperative investigation of rigid frame structures, authorized by the Board on October 13, 1933, has been changed from two years from January 1, 1934, to one year from January 1, 1934, and the total amount the Association will pay to cover the expenses of the investigation has been reduced from $15,000 to $8,000. T h e Association had not yet executed the agreement. It is anticipated that the Association will furnish additional funds to carry on the investigation and that the agreement will be extended after the expiration of one year in accordance with the provisions in it for such extension, but the Association wishes to be committed at this time to only one year.

CHANGE IN NAME OF VIVARIUM BUILDING (10) A recommendation that the name of the "Vivarium Building" be changed to "Experimental Zoology Laboratory." O n m o t i o n of M r s . H o p k i n s , t h i s c h a n g e w a s m a d e . PURCHASE OF SECURITIES FOR INVESTMENT OF TRUST FUNDS (11) T h e Comptroller reports the purchase of the following securities for investment of trust or endowment funds made in accordance with the action of the Board at its meeting on October 13, 1933: $S,ooo Duquesne Light Company, First mortgage 4 ^ % bonds Series A, due April 1, 1967, at 104.54. $7,000 Commonwealth Edison Company, First collateral 5% Series A, due July 1, 1953, at the following prices: $1,000 at 97, $4,000 at 97J4, $2,000 at 9 7 ^ . $5,000 Illinois Bell Telephone Company, First and refunding 5% due June 1, 1956, at 107. T h e first two items and $3,000 of Illinois Bell Telephone Company bonds have been deposited with Trevett-Mattis Banking Company of Champaign as a part of the McKinley Endowment Fund, and as required under the terms of gift of that fund. T h e remaining bonds have been deposited with the First Union Trust and Savings Bank of Chicago, our depository agent. T h i s r e p o r t w a s received for r e c o r d . RENTAL OF NORTH CARTER-PENNELL FARM (12) A report that the President and Secretary of the Board have executed an agreement for the rental of the north Carter-Pennell farm to John Wienken effective October 7, 1933. There is a change in the tenant of the farm, but otherwise the provisions in this agreement are similar to those in previous agreements.

GIFTS TO THE UNIVERSITY (13) T h e following report of gifts received by the University since the last report: T h e children of the late Professor Herbert J. Barton have presented to the University Library their father's own library consisting of 371 volumes, 15 pamphlets, and 97 stereoscopic photographs of Italy. T h e D u P o n t Rayon Company, $250 in support of research work in chemistry on two problems involving the determination of moisture in colloidal materials and the determination of relative humidities.
