milk in some of the Chicago plants which have bacteriological laboratories that can be used in this work. These investigations are in line with the Department's regular program of research work in dairy bacteriology. There appears to be some hazard involved in this work. At one time Professor Prucha was injured in the explosion of a sterilizer while he was conducting similar investigations. For this reason the Head of the Department of Dairy Husbandry and the Dean of the College of Agriculture recommend that this work be recognized as unusually hazardous work, and that permission be given Professor Prucha and Mr. Tuckey to engage in it. The investigations will be conducted during the summer and will probably require about two weeks' time. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r s . DONATION OF OBSOLETE RAILWAY ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT TO ROSENWALD M U S E U M

(34) The Museum of Science and Industry founded by Julius Rosenwald hasasked the University to donate to the M u s e u m any apparatus, equipment, or machines which have outlived their usefulness, but which m a y have a historic or museum value. T h e Director of the M u s e u m has asked specifically if the University would not be willing to donate the old locomotive testing plant designed by Robert Quayle for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1895 and also the sectioned front end of a Richmond compound locomotive. Both of these pieces have outlived their usefulness from a scientific and instructional point of view and are at present deteriorating under the effects of the weather. The Head of the Department of Railway Engineering and the Assistant Dean of the College feel that these two pieces might well be donated to the M u s e u m and so recommend. I concur in their recommendation. O n m o t i o n of M r . Trees, this donation w a s authorized.

REQUEST OF MISSOURI-KANSAS PIPE LINE COMPANY FOR RIGHT OF W A Y

(35) A request from the Missouri-Kansas Pipe Line Company for permission to lay an 8-inch line north across the South Farm on a line about one thousand (1000) feet east of the First Street road extended, crossing University property from its southern limits to the city limits of Champaign. The Company submits a form of agreement which, if approved, would grant a perpetual easement or right of way for their use. O n m o t i o n of M r . A r m s t r o n g , this matter w a s referred to the President of the University a n d the Legal Counsel for consideration a n d report. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION B U D G E T Mr. Trees presented for the Finance Committee a recommendation that the budget of the Athletic Association for the year beginning July 1, 1930, be approved. O n motion of Mr. Trees, this budget was approved. BAKER PRIZE FUND INVESTMENTS Mr. Trees presented for the Finance Committee a recommendation that the Treasurer be authorized to deposit $300 of Vancouver L u m ber Company Limited First Mortgage 7 X per cent gold bonds with the Continental Illinois Bank and Trust Company for the use of the Bond Holders Protective Committee under the terms of the Bond Holders Protective Agreement dated June 12, 1930. These bonds are part of the securities given by Professor Ira O. Baker to endow the Baker prizes. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this recommendation was adopted.
