Noble, these appointments were approved. CONTINUATION OF DR. NORVAL H. PIERCE {7) Dr. Nerval H. Pierce, Professor and Head of the Department of Laryngology, Rhinology, and Otology, reached the retiring age this year. H e asks that he be continued in service for one more year to enable him to finish research work he is doing on oto-sclerosis and also to complete a monograph on the pneumatization of the ear and nose. This work is offirstimportance in its specialty. The best interests of the University as well as of the medical sciences will be served by permitting Doctor Pierce to continue in service for one more year, and in view of the circumstances I recommend approval of this request. O n motion of D r . Noble, this extension w a s approved. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR R. R. HUDELSON (8) A recommendation that R. R. Hudelson, Associate Professor and Associate Chief in Farm Organization and Management in the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Agricultural Extension Service, be given leave of absence without pay from November I, 1931, to June 1, 1932, for the purpose of graduate study at Harvard University on a fellowship granted him by the Social Science Research Council. CERTIFICATES AS OF NOVEMBER. 1930 (10) The Committee on Accountancy, on recommendation of the Board of Examiners in Accountancy, to correct an error in grading, recommends that Mr. Joseph Cerny and Mr. George Edward Simonds be awarded the certificate of Certified Public Accountant as of November, 1930. PHYSICIANS' EXTENSION COURSES IN OTOLARYNGOLOGY (11) A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Medicine that the following physicians' extension courses in Otolaryngology, together with the fees indicated, be authorized: 81. Functional Tests of the Ear.—(a) Cochlear apparatus with special consideration of the use of tuning forks; (b) Vestibular apparatus with special reference to the caloric, rotatory and galvanic tests. 10 hours.
