This matter w a s referred to the President of the Board for investigation and report.

A R B O R E T U M A N D LANDSCAPING

M r s . Hopkins, for the Committee on Landscaping, presented a report of progress on the arboretum, and a recommendation that the necessary planting in the immediate vicinity of the President's House be authorized. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this recommendation w a s adopted. INVESTMENT OF TRUST F U N D S Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, stated that there were uninvested trust funds amounting to $3500. On motion of Mr. Williams the Finance Committee was authorized to invest these funds in proper securities and to report to the Board. OPENING OF G O O D W I N AVENUE Mr. Armstrong, for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, presented a recommendation that no change be m a d e in the plan to open G o o d w i n avenue, from N e v a d a street to Gregory drive (Minutes, February 6, 1931, page 172, and M a r c h 12, 1931, page 193); but that the matter of closing M a t h e w s avenue south of the Music building be referred to the Committee o n Landscaping for study a n d report. O n motion of M r . Barrett, this recommendation w a s adopted.

COMMITTEE O N PATENTS

M r . Barrett, for the Committee on Patents, m a d e a report of progress on the negotiations for the development of the process for the removal of sulphur from stack gases. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Mr. Armstrong, the minutes of the meeting of March 11, 12, 1931, were approved as printed on pages 181 to 199 above. M A Y MEETING On motion of Mr. Armstrong, i was voted to hold the M a y meeting t on Friday, M a y 15, at the University.
