a period long enough to make it impossible for him tofinishthe work of at least the semester in which he becomes ill, provided that the individual concerned shall return to his work at the University as soon as health permits. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this a m e n d m e n t w a s adopted. REPORT OF PROGRESS ON THE NUTRITION INVESTIGATION (14) Following action taken by the Board at the February meeting, two meetings of the Nutrition Commission have been held—March 13 and April 1 0 — to consider the publication of Volume II and the Summary giving the conclusions of the Commission. The Commission strongly recommends that Volume II of the Report be published in full as edited by Dr. MacNeal in order to complete satisfactorily the publication of therecordsof the investigation as originally planned. The Commission has not yet decided whether to recommend the publication of a Volume VI, a pamphlet giving the Conclusions of the Commission. This report w a s received for record. PETITION FOR A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN CONNECTION WITH T H E UNIVERSITY HIGH S C H O O L (15) A petition has been submitted to me, signed by thirty-eight citizens of Urbana who are parents of children eligible for enrollment in a junior high school in September, asking that the University open and maintain a junior high school in connection with the University High School. I recommend that the petitioners be informed that the Board does not see its way clear to comply with their request. O n motion of D r . Noble, this r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s concurred in.

GIFT OF MANUSCRIPT RECORDS FROM COLONEL NODINE POST, G. A. R.

(16) Mr. Walter Price, Adjutant General of the Colonel Nodine Post, No. 140, G. A. R., Department of Illinois, has presented the University with six volumes of the manuscript records of the Post. I have accepted this gift under the rules of the Board. This report w a s received for record.
