Therefore, I recommend that the following appointments in the department of Romance Languages for the year 1925-26 be made at the salaries indicated: T. R. Palfrey, Instructor (10 mo.) $2100 C. L. Rew, Assistant (10 mo.) 1600 McKendree Petty, Assistant (10 mo.) 1800 Stuart Cuthbertson, Assistant (10 mo.) 1600 Angelina La Piana, Assistant (10 mo.) 1500 Margarita D e Mayo, Assistant (10 mo.) 1700 Mrs. G. L. Miller, Assistant (10 mo.) 1500 O n motion of M r . Barr, these appointments were m a d e . EXTENSION OF LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MR. F. F. ELLIOTT (13) On February 11, the Board granted Mr. F. F. Elliott, Associate in Farm Organization and Management, permission to be absent for two months without pay from February 9, in order to assist the Bureau of Agricultural Economics at Washington in certain statistical studies. O n request of Dean Mumford I recommend that this leave of absence be extended to September 1, 1925, without pay. O n motion of M r . Trees, this extension w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR SEYBOLT (14) Dean Chadsey recommends that Associate Professor Seybolt be granted leave of absence without pay for thefirstsemester of the year 1925-16, in order that he may accept a position as Visiting Professor of the History of Education for the same period at Harvard University. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this matter w a s referred to the President of the University, with p o w e r to act. GIFT OF THE CHEMICAL FOUNDATION (15) I have accepted a gift of $1,000 from the Chemical Foundation, to be used for research work in Sanitary Chemistry. This report w a s received for record. AWARD OF PLYM FELLOWSHIP (16) The Plym Fellowship Committee has awardedfirstplace in the competition to Earl Victor Gauger, of the Class of 1923, and recommends that he be appointed the twelfth Francis J. Plym Fellow in Architecture. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this a w a r d w a s m a d e . ABSENCE OF DEE SMALL (17) O n request of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, I recommend that Mr. Dee Small, Assistant in Farm Organization and Management, be given leave of absence without salary for two and one-half months from April 15 to July 1, 1925, in order to assist the Farm Adviser of Warren County, Illinois. O n motion of M r s . E v a n s , this leave w a s granted. SUMMER COURSES IN THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY (18) O n request of Dean Day, I recommend that the School of Pharmacy be authorized to offer summer courses in pharmacognosy and bacteriology, for this year only, the work to begin June 22 and to end August 15. This work is to relieve the crowding that is likely to occur in the senior classes in these two subjects during the year 1925-26. I recommend that the following summer appointments be made to carry on this work:
