BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT KINLEY The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.

CEMENT PURCHASED FOR STADIUM

(i) A report that at the request of the Athletic Association, through Mr. George Huff, the President of the Board has authorized the Association to enter into a contract to purchase the cement for the Stadium, the terms of the contract having been approved by the Building Committee. The contract i with the Universal s Portland Cement Company for approximately 30,000 barrels of cement, at a price of $2.52 a barrel, F. O. B. car Champaign, with a reduction of 40c a barrel for the return of the sacks, and with 10c a barrel cash discount. This request was considered at a meeting of the Executive Committee held in Champaign, on Wednesday, June 14, and was approved. This report w a s received for record.

WORK IN JOURNALISM

(2) A request for authority to proceed as may seem best with the matter of establishing a department Or a school of Journalism (see page 257, May 26, 1922). O n motion of M r . Hoit, this authority was granted. C H A N G E IN C U R R I C U L U M IN I N D U S T R I A L E D U C A T I O N (3) A recommendation, approved for the Senate by the Council of Administration, that in the curriculum in industrial education the requirement in the teaching subject be made twenty-five semester hours instead offifteensemester hours, as at present. This recommendation w a s approved. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN LAW (4) The University Senate, on recommendation of the faculty of the College of Law and the Senate Committee on Educational policy, recommends the establishment of a four-year course leading to the B. S. degree in Law, the course to be a combination of our work in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or the College of Commerce and the College of Law, and the proposed curriculum of courses to be in accordance with established policy. I recommend the approval. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this recommendation was concurred in. At this point, Dr. Noble took his place with the Board. CHANGES IN LABORATORY FEES (5) The following changes in laboratory fees have been recommended and duly approved by all concerned and arc submitted with the recommendation that they be approved.
