URBANA, Feb.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: Upon the call of the chairman, Mr. W. L. Abbott, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the University on the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1912. All the members of the committee were present. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR NOYE The vice-president submitted the following recommendation: That leave of absence be given to Professor W. A. Noyes, head of the Department of Chemistry, from April 1, 1912, for the remainder of the current semester, on full pay, to enable him to attend a meeting of the International Council of Chemical Societies in Berlin as the accredited representative of the American Chemical Society, and to study European laboratories for information likely to be needed in connection with building here. This recommendation was approved. CO-OPERATION WITH THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION. The following communication was received from the Alumni Association: Nov. 25, 1911. The President and%the Board of Trustees, University of Illinois: SIRS—The Alumni Association of the University of Illinois, at a meeting held on Nov. 25, 1911, adopted the following resolutions without a dissenting vote: WHEREAS, It is the purpose of this association to revise its organization and thereby make it more active and efficient in the work it may do, and WHEREAS, It is the "belief of this association that its activities should be in helpful cooperation with the administration of the University, and that in this way it may become a strong arm in support of the University, therefore be it Resolved, That the President and Board of Trustees of the University be requested to appoint a committee to consult with our reorganization committee with the purpose of effecting, if possible, a direct relation in which this association may cooperate with the University authorities, without any legal complications, but with a vital working connection that will be helpful to the University and increase the love and enthusiasm which the members of the Alumni Association entertain for our great University. Secretary. It was voted to authorize the president of the board to appoint a committee as requested by the Alumni'Association to consult with the reorganization committee of the association. The president appointed the following committee: F*. L. Hatch, chairman; W. L. Abbott. REPORT FROM T H E COMMITTEE ON BUILDINGS A N D GROUNDS. The following report was received from the Committee on Buildings and Grounds:

URBANA, Feb. 6, 1912.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: Your Committee on Buildings and Grounds held a meeting on this date at the University. There were present Mr. Abbott, chairman; Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, and Mr. Hatch, members of the committee, Mr. Grout, member of the board, and Professor J. M. White, supervising architect.
