E E P O R T OF COMMITTEE ON STUDENTS' WELFARE.

The following report of the Committee on Students' Welfare was received for record: PLANS FOR THE WOMAN'S BUILDING.

CHICAGO, Sept. 26, 1911.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: Your Committee on Students' Welfare begs leave to report that it has held two meetings for the consideration of the floor plans for the addition to the Woman's building which were referred to this committee at the meeting of Sept. 12, 1911 .(page 478) for consideration with power to act. The first meeting was held "at the Beardsley Hotel in Champaign on the evening of Sept. 12, 1911, the second meeting at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago on this date; on both occasions all the members of the committee and. the supervising architect were present. At the second meeting the State Architect, Mr. W. Carbys Zimmerman, was also present, and presented a modified design for the elevation of the facade. Your committee has authorized the supervising architect to proceed with the floor plans as presented by him at the second meeting of the committee on this date. Respectfully submitted,

F I R E P R O O F CONSTRUCTION FOR A D D I T I O N TO W O M A N ' S BUILDING.

I t was voted i h a t the State Architect be directed to adopt a fire-proof construction for the addition to the Woman's building, in accordance with the plans submitted by him at this meeting, the inside partitions to be of tile and the ceiling of the third floor to be of expanded metal and plaster.

I t was voted, also, to direct the State Architect to advertise as soon as possible for bids on the School of Commerce building and the addition to the Woman's building.
