476 UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS. CONTRACT TOR COAL. [Sept. 12 President Abbott reported that he had advertised for bids for coal for the coming year and had received bids from the following firms: (1)S Brazil Block Coal Company, of Chicago; (2) Traer Coal Company, of Chicago; (3) B. & B. Coal Company, of Peoria.; (4) LincolnSpringfield Coal Company, of Chicago; (5) Electric Coal Company,,of Danville; (6) Jones & Adams Coal Company, of Chicago; (7) Burn well Coal Company, of Chicago. It was, voted to refer these bids to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, with authority to contract for coal for the year 1911-1912. The committee adjourned. t * MCCONN, W. L. ABBOTT, A. P. The adjourned session of the quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was called to order by President Abbott at 1:45 p. m., on Tuesday, Sept.. 12, 1911, in the trustees' room at the University. The following members of the board were present: Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. Moore. President James was present, and Professor J. M. White, supervising architect, and Mr. W. Carbys Zimmerman, State Architect, were in attendance throughout most of the afternoon. • REPORT OF MEETING OE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of the Executive Committee held on this date, and the actions taken by the committee at this meeting were confirmed by the. following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. Moore; noes,,none; absent, Mr. Anthony, Mr. Deneen, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker. The president of the University presented the following matters for consideration: REQUEST OP MR. THOMAS O'BRIEN. (1) A letter from Mr. Thojmas O'Brien, formerly an employe of the University, requesting compensation for injuries received by him in an accident which occurred on April 8, 1911, in the course of moving a steel reinforced concrete beam from the Concrete Laboratory to the Laboratory of Applied Mechanics. On the recommendation of President James this request was referred to a special committee,* to be appointed by the president of the board, for consideration and report.. ' *President Abbott later reported to the secretary the appointment of the following special committee: Mrs. Bahrenburg, chairman, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Moore.
