1907] PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. STUDENT'S FEES. 161 The secretary presented his report of fees due from students as follows: 1. Of fees for the year 1906-7 of students of the College of Medicine. 2. Of fees for the year 1906-7 of students of the College of Dentistry. 3. Of fees for the year 1906-7 of students of the School of Pharmacy. 4. Of fees for the second semester for the year 1906-7 of University students at Urbana. 5. Of fees for the second semester for the year 1906-7 of Academy students. These were referred to the Finance Committee. . COAL, 1907-8. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds was directed to advertise for bids for proposals for coal for the year beginning September 1, 1907, and for hauling the same, and was authorized to contract for coal and hauling if satisfactory bids were received.* The board adjourned to meet at the University at 2:00 p. m. Friday, July 12, 1907. Adjourned Session. JULY 12, 1907. When the board met pursuant to adjournment, there were present Governor Deneen and Messrs. Abbott, Blair, Davison, Hatch, McLean, and Mrs. Evans, and Mrs. Busey. President James was present. STREET EAILWAY ACROSS SOUTH CAMPUS. The secretary was directed to ask the Attorney General as to the legal effect of the joint resolution of the Forty-fifth General Assembly purporting to give the Urbana and Champaign Eailway, Gas and Electric Company authority to cross the grounds of the University of Illinois. The following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That the proposition of the Street Railway Company with regard to crossing the University campus as presented to the board by President McKinley is unsatisfactory. Upon the nomination of President James, Mr. Ellery B. Paine was appointed Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at a salary of $2,000.00 a year from September 1, 1907. SELECTION OF ARCHITECT FOR NEW BUILDINGS. ' The board considered in committee of the whole the question of the selection of an architect. Mr. Abbot was chairman of the committee and Mr. Pillsbury secretary.
