FLUERY, Secretary, I t seemed best that the Advisory Board should consist of ten members and the persons nominated were unanimously selected. On motion of Mr. McLean, it was voted to hold a special meeting of the Board October 6, 1896, at the School of Pharmacy, Chicago, Illinois. The proposition to set eight stone posts so as to prevent driving across the lawn on the north side of Greeii street was referred to Mr. Morgan for investigation and report. Later in the session, on recommendation of Mr. Morgan, $160 was appropriated for the purpose of setting stone posts or boulders for such purpose, as the Committee on Buildings and Grounds might deem advisable. A communication was received from the Julia F. Burnham h o s pital Association, of Champaign; asking for the use of Military Hall on the evening of November 23d. Action was postponed until the next morning. A communication from John Deere & Co., of Moline, 111., with regard to a breaking plow given to the University at the time of the World's Fair, and the claim of certain parties in Henry county to the ownership of the plow were referred to Mr. Morgan, the sense of the Board being that it is very desirable that the plow remain at the University.

STATE LABORATORY OF NATURAL' HISTORY.

The biennial report of the State Laboratory of Natural History was presented by the Director, Professor Forbes, and it was ordered that i t be printed in the biennial report of the Board of Trustees.

AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT STATION.

President Draper presented a report from the Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, Professor Davenport. In accordance with the recommendations of the report and of the report from the Advisory Board of the Experiment Station, to be found below, the salary of Mr. Powers was made $75 a month for the months of August and September and appropriations of Station funds were made to meet the following estimates:
