This he refused to do and the committee thought best to reject all the proposals and call for proposals for the buildings separate instead of in one contract. This the committee did, opening the bids on July 23rd, with the following result: The engine and dynamo building— W. F. Hoyle, Lincoln, 111 E d w a r d Gleason, Chicago, 111 Mr. Morava, Chicago, 111 Richard Mohn, Chicago, 111 Boiler house and chimney— $14,000 15.700 16,796 13,945 14,600 00 00 74 00 00 j L # $25,250 00 25,385 00 25,740 00 24,850 00 W. Yeager & Son, of Danville, being the lowest bidders, either combined -or separate, the contract was awarded to them. They immediately commenced work and now have a large part of their work done. They are under <?ontra~t to have it done by the first of December, 1897, and we have little doubt but that the work will be completed on time. ' Boilers—It became necessary to increase our boiler capacity 250 horse power. It was thought best to use a water tube boiler and to em ploy a patent Murphy furnace in connection with it, one boiler of that capacity being better -and cheaper -than several of smaller sizes. On a call for proposals for this work, one boiler equipped with Murphy furnace, we received the following bids:
