190 UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS. [Sept. 21, The motion to adopt the recommendation of the faculty was then carried unanimously. Respectfully submitted, ALEX. MCLEAN, J. E. ARMSTRONG, S. A. BULLARD, A. S. DRAPER, S. W. SHATTUCK, Committee on School of Pharmacy. THIRD YEAR'S WORK FOR THE DEGREE OF PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMIST. CHEMISTRY.—The course to consist of laboratory work, lectures, assigned reading and recitations, and to embrace: Quantitative Analysis (gravimetric), including water anlysis. Plant Analysis.—Isolation and determination of proximate principles—such as sugars, starch, alkaloids, etc. Drug Assaying. Physiological Chemistry. Food Analysis, such as of milk, butter, etc. BACTERIOLOGY.—Course to be mapped out by the instructor. (It is suggested that the work in this branch be done at the Medical School.) T h e following resolution, offered by Mr. M c L e a n , was adopted: Resolved, That in accordance with a recommendation made by the State Pharmaceutical Association, at its meeting recently held in Springfield, Hon. William J. Frisbie, of Bushnell, 111., be appointed a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Pharmacy for term ending in June, 1903. T h e Secretary was directed to notify Mr. F r i s b i e of this a p p o i n t m e n t a n d also t h e F a c u l t y of t h e School of P h a r m a c y . A r e q u e s t from Professor Myers t h a t provision b e made for heati n g t h e Observatory was not g r a n t e d . U p o n r e c o m e n d a t i o n of P r e s i d e n t D r a p e r $175.00 was a p p r o p r i a t e d for t h e d e p a r t m e n t of applied chemistry. Also u p o n r e c o m m e n d a t i o n of P r e s i d e n t D r a p e r , $500.00 was a p p r o p r i a t e d for t h e d e p a r t m e n t of physiology. P r e s i d e n t D r a p e r presented a r e q u e s t from Professor B r e c k e n r i d g e for an a p p r o p r i a t i o n of $150.00 a term for t h e year to be used for o p e r a t i n g expenses for t h e M e c h a n i c a l L a b o r a t o r y . I t was moved by Mr. M c K a y t h a t t h i s a p p r o p r i a t i o n be g r a n t e d , a n d d u r i n g t h e consideration of t h i s motion t h e B o a r d adjourned to m e e t at 9:30 o'clock W e d n e s d a y m o r n i n g . WEDNESDAY MORNING SESSION. W h e n t h e B o a r d met p u r s u a n t to a d j o u r n m e n t t h e same m e m b e r s were present as at t h e p r e c e d i n g session on T u e s d a y . T h e motion which was u n d e r consideration when t h e B o a r d adj o u r n e d was lost. I t was moved by Mr. A r m s t r o n g t h a t $60.00 be a p p r o p r i a t e d for t h i s term to pay for s t u d e n t labor in t h e mechanical e n g i n e e r i n g
