Hallway ASL Visit Hoof n’ Horn to learn about opportunities to develop a greater knowledge of the animal science industry. Hoof n’ Horn club members have a deep interest in both animal agriculture and its affiliated industries. They aim to provide students with extracurricular opportunities in the field of animal sciences.

Determining the Functional Characteristics of Novel Carbohydrates

Hallway ASL Some novel carbohydrates are believed to have beneficial characteristics that could have positive dietary impacts and are of growing interest to food product developers, health care professionals, and consumers. Soluble Fiber Dextrins are one example of these potentially valuable carbohydrates. The focus of this research is to evaluate potential positive characteristics such as the prospective digestion, caloric content, and glycemic and insulin responses using animal models. Reducing the glycemic response and caloric content is believed to help in weight management and have other positive health benefits.
