Newmark Lab

The $4.2M Nathan Newmark Civil Engineering Building was built in the late 1960's. It honors Nathan Newmark, who began in 1930 as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering, before taking over as Department Head from 1956 to 1973.

The building features an enormous crane bay that is constantly alive with activity and if one is particularly lucky, one might even see something being shaken or smashed in one of the numerous testing apparatus dotting the floor.
