UNIVERS1 IX OF ILLINOIS.

Dr. J. M. Gregory, our esteemed and beloved Kegent. who ha- been at the head of the Illinois Industral University from its birth, and to whom the people of the S t a t e of Illinois owe a debt which cannot be paid by mere words, h a s tendered his r lignation of the trust so long- and so faithfully held b him ; therefore, Resohi \ T h a t while this Board accepts the resignation of Dr. Greg-orw it does so with feeling's of regret ; and, whil compelled to lose his valuable services in the future m a n a g e m e n t of the Univer Ltjr, the Board takes this occasion to express and extend to Dr. Gregory its appreciation of his past service in behalf of the University, the harmony and g-ood feeling- which exist between himself and t h i s Board, and the valuable services and affectionate devotion on his p a r t to the welfare of this institution and all connected w i t h it. Resolved, T h a t the Illinois Industral University is and ever will be a monument to the name, fame, and g-enius of Dr. Gregorv ; t h a t in him this institution h a s had, for over t h i r t e e n years, a friend constant, faithful, and devoted to the cause of hig-her education, as applied to the practical and useful arts, as well as to the full and complete university system, which he has crystalized and incorporated in the s^vstem of education adopted by the U n i v e r s i t y . RcsohccL T h a t t h i s Board in its own behalf as well as in behalf of the people of the S t a t e of Illinois, desires to, and does herel press its t h a n k s to Dr. J o h n M.
