ILLINOIS ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY, established in 1957, encourages sc: itific archaeole ;lcal research, maintains a record of archaeological sites in the state, cooperates in archaeological salvage -where highways or other construction i done, encourages preservation of antiquities in parks and monuments, and pub] letins on Illinoi archaeology.
