Page 20 COLLEGE OF MEDICIKE, 1853 W. Polk St., Chicago 12, established as an independent institution in l88l became affiliated with the University in 1897. Departments are anatomy, bacteriology, biological chemistry, clinical science, dermatology, illustration, medical social work, medicine, microbiology, neurology and neurological surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, pathology, pediatrics, pharmacology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physiology, preventive medicine, psychiatry, public health, radiology, surgery. RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS provide 620 beds and 30 outpatient clinicsat 8^0 S. Wood St., Chicago 12. Care and treatment is limited to Illinois residents whose cases are of educational and research interest, who are referred by their attending physician, by social agencies, or admitted as emergencies. In 1957-58, bed treatment was given at the hospitals at a rate of 172,200 patient days, and 189,051 visits were made to the outpatients clinics. Medical Director is Dr. Donald J. Caseley.

DIVISION OF SERVICES FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN at 1105 S. Sixth St., Springfield, reporting to the University's vice president for health science units, Chicago, is the official state agency for utilizing federal grants-in-aid for the diagnosis, hospitalization, and after-care of children who are crippled or suffering from conditions which lead to crippling. It makes available services which allow, within reasonable limits, handicapped children to become self-sustaining adults. In 1957 it provided 9 , 7 ^ children with medical services. Director is Dr. Herbert R, Kobes.

ILLINOIS EYE AND EAR INFIRMARY, 90^ W. Adams St., Chicago 7, staffed by the College of Medicine and operated by the State Department of Public Welfare, in 1957-58 had 9 M & 6 patient visits, provided 2,^75 patients with hospital care, and performed 2,1+30 operations.

FRESBYTERIAN-ST, LUKE'S HOSPITAL, 1753 W. Congress St., Chicago 12, is affiliated with the College of Medicine for teaching and research.

INSTITUTE FOR JUVEBILE RESEARCH, 907 S. Wolcott St., Chicago 12, operated by the State Department of Public Welfare, is staffed in part by the College of Medicine.
