The Sunken Garden, a gigantic amphitheater of concrete with a noor of emerald turf, is a superb finale in the series of garden episodes which owes ,ts splendid appearance to John Gregg, who also designed *tt.ngs f0r ,he "Death of the Last Centaur" and the "Sun Singer both located further along the woodland trail to the west. Ongmally laid out in 1915, it was reconstructed in 1932, and in its present form exhibits a Balinese influence.
