B. Statutory Employer Contribution to the Retirement System In discussions of the statutory employer contribution to the Retirement System, concern was expressed as to the future of the system when appropriations for only "net benefit payments" are provided by the state. Mr. Howard proposed the following resolution to accompany the documents dealing with this portion of the budget: Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois has consistently requested the full amounts required by state statute to be appropriated on behalf of the State Universities Retirement System, to ensure that funds will be available for payment of pensions upon retirement of University of Illinois faculty and staff j and, Whereas, the Legislature and Governor have not approved the full funding
