(3) T h e Chicago Circle Senate has recommended the revision of the undergraduate teacher education curriculum in communication and theatre, effective immediately. At present, the department offers a teacher education curriculum in two areas of concentration: communication and public address, and theatre and oral interpretation. Each of these has 48 hours of required courses for completion of the major. The department now proposes to (1) offer three areas of concentration — communication and public address, theatre and oral interpretation, and mass media; (2) change the number and level of required courses; and (3) increase the number of hours required for the major to 59 hours in communication and public address and 60 hours in each of the other two areas of concentration. T h e changes in the curriculum will result in better preparation in each area of concentration. T o accomplish the desired depth, the number of core courses is reduced, and the student's area of concentration is strengthened through an increase in the number and level of required courses in the area of concentration.
