University Director of Public Information

(2) I recommend the appointment of Mr. David Landman, presently Director of Public Affairs for the Pathfinder Fund, Boston, Massachusetts, as University Director of Public Information, beginning April 1, 1977, on a twelve-month service basis, at an annual salary of $36,000. The appointment of Mr. Landman will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Mr. Charles E. Flynn in September 1975. The University Director of Public Information is one of the General Officers of the University and reports directly to the President of the University. He has specific responsibility for the enunciation of the mission of the University, the development of information programs to attempt to secure full understanding of and support for the mission and activities of the University, and the development of relationships both in and out of Illinois to insure that the University plays its appropriate role as a member of the larger education community. This recommendation is made with the advice of a search committee.1

On motion of Mr. Hahn, this appointment was approved. Appointments to the Faculty
