REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE FOR THE TRUSTEES' DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDALLION AWARD M r . Steger, C h a i r m a n of t h e Committee, was recognized to present the following report for which he moved the adoption by t h e Board of Trustees: Recommendations for Award of Board of Trustees Distinguished Service Medallion O n July 18, 1973, the Trustees Distinguished Service Medallion was created to recognize those individuals whose contributions to the growth and development of the University of Illinois, through extraordinary service or significant benefaction, have been of unusual significance. In accordance with the terms of the establishment of the award, a Distinguished Service Medallion Committee, consisting of four trustees, was appointed by the President of the Board to receive nominations, formulate rules of procedure, and make recommendations to the Board. T h e Committee now recommends as recipients of the Trustees Distinguished Service Medallion the following individuals:

J O H N GREGG A L L E R T O N , distinguished architect and adopted son of a celebrated

benefactor of the University (Robert Allerton); a graduate of the University of Illinois in 1926, he has himself added beauty a n d design to Allerton Park and has been a firm protector and conservator of our environmental resources. AVERY BRUNDAGE of Chicago, businessman and philanthropist, graduate of the University of Illinois with honors in 1909; an outstanding student athlete and Olympic competitor. For twenty years president of the International Olympic Committee, and steadfast supporter of the University. ANTHONY J. JANATA, secretary of the Board of Trustees and executive assistant to the President Emeritus. Graduate of the University of Illinois in 1920 and for forty-six years thereafter devoted servant of the institution, serving under six presidents. Presented by the Committee Award: Russell W. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY President's Reports President Corbally presented a report on selected topics of current interest, copies of which were distributed at the meeting, a n d a copy was filed with the Secretary of the Board. Establishment of the Energy Resources Center as an All-Campus Unit, Chicago Circle At its meeting of September 12, 1973, the Board of Trustees approved a proposal for the establishment of an Energy Resources Center at the Chicago Circle campus for the purpose of studying and offering advice on the overall energy problem in the state of Illinois.
