Unless otherwise specified, the stipends provide two months' salary (based on twoninths of the salary rate for the previous academic year). The Vice Chancellor further recommends that funds for these grants be assigned from the salary budget of the campus. WILLIAM MAXWELL, editor on the staff of the New Yorker magazine — the degree of Doctor of Letters. THOMAS PARK, ecologist and educator, professor of biology at the University of Chicago — the degree of Doctor of Science. The Chancellor concurs in the recommendations. I recommend approval.
