mek, a former student and candidate for a Master's Degree in Political Science. The Petition for Mandamus alleges that the plaintiff successfully completed all courses required for the Master's Degree, and that he passed a written Comprehensive Examination and was listed as a student to be certified for the Master's Degree. The plaintiff seeks a writ of mandamus from the Court ordering and requiring the defendants to issue a Master's Degree in Political Science to him, that he be awarded damages for all money lost by virtue of his alleged deprivation of the degree, and that he be awarded costs and reasonable attorney's fees. The University Counsel recommends that he be authorized to take such steps as are necessary or appropriate, including the employment of special counsel, to protect the University's interests in this proceeding and to represent the University employees named as defendants therein who request him to do so. I concur. O n motion of M r . Swain, authority w a s given as recommended by the following vote: Aye, M r . Forsyth, M r . H a h n , M r . H o w a r d , M r . H u g h e s , M r . Neal, M r .
