Alumni to apply for t h e K a t h a r i n e L . S h a r p Scholarship to be awarded by the faculty in M a r c h 1944. T h i s scholarship, which was endowed in 1933 by the University o f Illinois L i b r a r y School Association as a memorial to the founder of t h e School, includes a stipend o f $300 and exemption from tuition. Application blanks m a y be secured upon request from the Library School and should b e filed w i t h Director R. B. Downs before March 1, 1944.

Placement Situation

Director R o b e r t B . D o w n s a n d D r . Lewis F . Stieg, assistant director, have been studying t h e placement activity of the Library School during 1^42 and 1943 a n d h a v e found that the current year's requests or recom n i d a t i o n s is forty p e r Cent above that of last year. From June to October of this year requests w e r e received from thirty-six states showing that Ulinois is maintaining its national reputation.
