Alumni News Letter

Eleanor Carruth was married May 9, 1942, to A. Lcroy Covev in hence, Kansas. Scvcrine L. Gurzynski resigned as librarian of the Calumet City iSf public Library, to be married in the near future. f president of the Illinois Library Association for the current year is Dorothy Hiatt, librarian of the Public Library of Jacksonville, Illinois. Elizabeth R- Jordan has recently been promoted from assistant librarian daught Ynctte, born in May, 1942. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. McCoy are the parents of a son, Robert Allen, born October 1. The mother was Melba McKibben also of this class! Mr. McCoy is editor of publications for the Illinois State Library and is [ busy making future plans for the Victory Book Drive of which he is state chairman. I

Dena J. Polacheck was married to Morton B. Epstein on October 24, 1942, in Chicago. The groom, who has his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois and has been a research assistant in the Chemistry Department there, has taken up his new duties as research assistant for the Army at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, New Jersey. For the present Mrs. Epstein will continue in her position in the Catalog Department of the University of Illinois, while completing work on her thesis tor the Master's degree. Mildred L. Sloane resigned her position with the County Library at U Porte, Indiana, to accept a similar position in the County Library at Mansfield, Ohio. Wendell W. Smiley, A.M/39, resigned as librarian of Georgia Teaches College Library at Collegeboro, Georgia, to become librarian of Mercer University Library, Macon, Georgia, this fall. ; '' Resigning her position at Mary Hardin-Baylor Teachers College Library, Belton, Texas, Frances Tudor became documents and reference Wnarian of Colgate University Library at Hamilton, New York.
