'02, d i r e c t o r of the School of Librarians!^ University of Denver, spent the s u m m e r in the Scandinavian countries, re t u r n i n g on the Queen M a r y j u s t after w a r w a s declared. E . J o a n n a H a g e y , B.L.S. '03, librarian of the Cedar Rapids Public Library for 29 years has resigned h e r position. She plans to spend the winter in California with her m o t h e r . In accepting Miss H a g e y ' s resignation, the board passed a resolution , expressing "deep appreciation of her m a n y years of faithful service as li- 1 brarian; that we c o m m e n d her diligence in endeavoring to extend library service and the use of books t o all p a r t s of t h e city and to increasing numbers of people; that we appreciate h e r unfailing courtesy and graciousness in dealing with p a t r o n s and a s s o c i a t e s ; t h a t we recognize her valuable contribution to the cultural forces of the c o m m u n i t y ; and that we extend to her our sincere wishes for m a n y y e a r s of deserved leisure, pleased that her influence in the city will continue." A n n a V. Jennings, B.L.S. '03, for m a n y years librarian of the Nebraska State Teachers College Library, K e a r n e y , Nebraska, retired from active work last summer and is now living in Lincoln, Nebraska. M a r g a r e t H u t c h i n s , B.JL.S. '08, assistant professor of library science at Columbia, met with an automobile accident early in September in which her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth H u t c h i n s , was killed and she was injured, thougn not seriously. Many of the alumni knew Mrs. H u t c h i n s when she lived in Urbana and they will deeply regret this news. Miss H u t c h i n s was able to take up her teaching when Columbia opened. Hazel Dean, '14-15, has resigned her position as head of the Cataloging department, Baker Library, Graduate School of Business Administration a the Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, to become an Assistan Professor in the School of Library Service, University of Southern u » forma, Los Angeles, California. Elizabeth E . Hague, B.L.S. '18, is now librarian of the Veterans Facility Hospital Library at Lake City, Florida. Elizabeth P e t e r s , '19-20, has accepted a position as Junior Cataloger m the Catalog Division of the National Archives, W a s h i n g t o n , D. G ra C? Murra y, B LS w resi P,K? T K .
