Letter, 1935

Annemay Vandivcr, s.s. '25, is no longer in library work but is now .Irs. Summers. Mr. and Mrs. Summers are living at Andrews North rcn C rolina. ' Kitchel Florence Adkins, 1924-25, was married on June 30 1934 a t Grinnell, Iowa, to Mr. Oliver Ottis Hawk. Mrs. Hawk was formerly employed in the Public Library at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Vivian G. Reynolds Boughter, 1924-25, is attending Columbia University School of Library Service this year. Her address is Apartment 4-G 435 West 119th Street, New York City. Her husband, Mr. I. F. Boughter' was accidentally killed on March 16, 1934. ' Grace Palmer, 1924-25, Librarian of the Southwest Missouri State Teachers' College Library, Springfield, Missouri, toured Russia last summer. Helen G. Stroup, 1924-25, was married on October 12, 1934, to Mr. Kenneth Young. She is continuing her work in the Reference Department of the Public Library of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The new home address is 637 College Avenue, S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Henry C. Cox, B.L.S. '26, is an assistant in the Circulation Department of the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Cox has also established a model subsistence homestead in Arizona. He has been dividing his time between the library and the farm and hopes that when the work on his ranch is finished, "to be a farmer rather than a librarian." E. Fay Hart, B.L.S. '26, Librarian of the Wheeler Library of the Southern Illinois State Normal University, Carbondale, Illinois, toured Russia last summer. Gertrude Suess (Mrs. Sheldon Brumbaugh), M.A. '27, is located for the present at 906 First St., East, McCook, Nebraska. Louise Winn Getchell, B.S. '27, has recently accepted the position of Assistant Cataloger in the University of Maryland Library at College Park, Maryland. Ruth Krueger, B.S. '27, returned to the University of Illinois on a leave of absence from the Eastern State Teachers College at Madison, South Dakota, to finish her work for the Master's degree and is working part time at the Loan Desk. She will teach Cataloging this summer in the Library School at the University of Illinois. Esther Stallmann, B.S. '27, is a substitute instructor in Library Science at the Syracuse University Library School this semester, Feb.-June, 1935. She will teach at the George Peabody College for Teachers at Nashville, Tennessee, during the 1935 Summer Session. Christine Sanders, 1926-27, accepted the position of Librarian of the Public Library at St. Albans, Vermont, in August. She is also Director of a very interesting Regional Library experiment in Franklyn County, Vermont. She wrote that "the experiment in this County was a follow-up of a larger piece of work conducted in 1931-33 with Burlington as a center. The St. Albans Public Library is the present center offering* six towns library service. One thousand dollars was available, in addition the State Free Public Library Department loaned a book truck and the use of about 500 more books and the help of two librarians working under the E.R.A. It was no part of the plan to destroy the individuality of the small libraries
