She had gone to Berkeley for a visit irith her'parent's |,,. fore starting on her summer vacation when she was suddenly taken ill and died from heart trouble. She was a graduate of the University of California in 1915; first served m Stanford University Library, then later in tin Stanford Hospital Librarj at San Francisco. She was librarian of the City of Richmond tor a while, then for two years was librarian of Eleventh Naval district in San Diego. Her next appointment was to the Contra Costa county school library, and from there she went to the San Francisco School Library system. H e r parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. W«tun live at 1926 El Dorado Avenue, Berkeley, California. George Doty, '17-'18, who has been for some time Professor of Modern languages in the University of Southern California, visited the School in June. Florence Blackburn Thorne, B.L.S. 7 1 , had a leave of absence this summer and spent it with her husband on their farm in Indiana. She has now returned to her position with the Los Angeles City Set Her address is 1420 Alvarado Terrace. I Arthur Ray Curry, B.L.S. 21, has charge of a project involving the compilation of a bibliography of Texas historical material. I Isabel G. H o m e , '21-'22, is now librarian of the Public Library, Maywood, Illinois. I Jackson E. Towne, B.L.S. '22, librarian of the Michigan State College, played one of the leading parts in a dramatic production of the Lansing Civic Players Guild when they presented Burton E. Stevenson's mystery clrama, "In the next room." Mr. Towne played the part of Felix Armand. Mr. Stevenson, hearing of the production, wrote Mr. Towne a very interesting letter telling about the career of this story which has been translated into almost every language in Europe, and has been made into a vie. \ Jessie A. Reid, B.L.S. '23, for some years head cataloger at the Public Library of Santa Monica, California, resigned and was married to Mr. Charles Ferris Spencer on September 2, 1933. They are living at 1624 No. Vine St., Hollywood, California. Octavia Rogan, B.L.S. '24, is the subject of an appreciative article in News Notes of the Texas Library Association for October, 1933. She was the first woman to hold the position of Legislative Reference Librarian in the State Library. In 1932 she became the librarian of the Texas Masonic Grand Lodge at Waco, Texas. Ruth Van Tuyl, '24-'25, has a temporary position in the Catalog Department of the Omaha, Nebraska, Public Library. Alice Beach, B.L.S. '25, is rejoicing because her library at Friends University, Wichita, Kansas, was awarded $6000 by the Carnegie Corporation of New York for the purchase of books. Elleine Harrison McLcllan, B.L.S. '27, was married on January 26, 1934, to Frank Stones. Mrs. Stones has been reference librarian at the Detroit Public Library, Detroit, Michigan, since 1°28. They will make their home in Grafton, Massachusetts. Mr. Stones is a metallurgist with the New England Wire Company. Carlyle Morris, B.S. '27, and Mrs. Morris announce the birth of a daughter, Sara Anne, on June 23>, 1933. Mr. Morris is in the Reference department of the Chicago Public Library. Dorothy Kmelinc Moyer, B.S. '27, was married January 1, 1034, in Champaign, to Mr. Paul Richard 1 lalmos of Chicago. Mr. Ilalmos is nd majoring in Mathematics and Philosophy in the University am expects to 191
