'16, reports that at last the consolidation of the three public libraries of Saginaw, Michigan, has been effected—the Hoyt Public Library, the East Side Library, and the Butnam Fish Library. The Hoyt Library building will be the central library for the system. Miss Prall has been in Saginaw since 1925 and librarian since 192/. )orothy Cook, B.L.S. '19, cataloger, the Standard Catalog Series of the H. W. Wilson Co., N. Y., addressed the class in cataloging at the University of Denver School of Librarianship during the first week of school. Jesse Lee Rader, ^ O - ^ l , librarian of the University of Oklahoma, is director of the newly accredited Library School at that University. [Florence Blackburn (Mrs. W. S. Thorne), B.L.S. '21, writes that she believes that it is very advantageous to take out life memberships in college and professional organizations. She is a life member in her college alumni association, the Illinois Library School Association, and the A.L.A. She is in charge of the Catalog division of the Library of the Board of Education of Los Angeles, and spent the summer touring in the Northwest with her husband. • Sally Woods (Mrs. J. R. Hamilton), B.L.S. '22, announces the birth of aj daughter, Mary Frances, on October 24, 1932. She is living at Greenfield, Iowa. W Icelle Emma Wright, S.S. '23, cataloger, Oklahoma A.&M. College library, Stillwater, Oklahoma, has been granted a year's leave of absence t | accept a fellowship leading to the Master's degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. , , • Alice Strong (Mrs. Arthur O. Alben), 22- 23, is now living in Shreveport, Louisiana. JL 1 Ruth McCaughtry, B.L.S. '23, died at the home of her parents in Crane, Alissouri, on August 8th, of typhoid fever. At the time, her father, the Bteverend James D. McCaughtry, was so dangerously ill from the same disease that it was impossible to tell him of her death. The funeral was delayed until his recovery, and took place in Springfield on September 29th. Miss McCaughtry was a graduate of Drury College in 1912, and received her professional degree at the University of Illinois in 1923. For the past •even years she had been in the Catalog department of the Springfield PubB e Library, and had made a host of friends for herself in that city. Previo u s to this she had held positions in the University of Illinois Library, • h e University of Iowa Library, and the University of Missouri Library. •Miss McCaughtry was a most courageous person; a good many years ajjo • h e developed a serious heart trouble, but so strong was her desire to work jhat she never stopped, tho at times she was able to work only part thru •and sometimes had to take long periods of rest. Gladys Baker, B.L.S. '24, has resigned from the University of Missouri Library staff and has been appointed cataloger in the University of Idaho Library, Moscow, Idaho. Helen Meisinger, '25-'26, is children's librarian in the Public Librar) : •of Lincoln, Nebraska, and is well known there for her interesting work in story telling.
