The opening of Richmond Studio marks the first time the broadcast journalism educational program has had its own permanent facility, including a teaching television studio twice as large as previous makeshift facilities. "We could see that the students and faculty in broadcast journalism had gotten by with meager technical facilities for years. We decided to do something about i f Mr. Richmond said. He is a 1943 graduate of the U of I College of Agriculture. The Richmonds have supported a variety of University programs for many years as well as providing the $2 million Richmond Studio funding. In addition, the family made another $2 million gift provision creating the Richmond Family Endowed Men's Head Basketball Coach fund, which was announced the day Richmond Studio was dedicated.
