APPOINTMENT TO BOARD OF EXAMINERS IN ACCOUNTANCY (5) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends the appointment of Mr. Charles D. McDaniel, C.P.A., a partner in the firm of Arthur Andersen and Company, 120 South LaSalle Street, Chicago, to the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for a period of three years beginning July I, 1953. Mr. George R. Catlett was previously appointed to this three-year term, but it has become necessary for him to resign as a member of the Board because he is being transferred by his firm from Chicago to St. Louis, Missouri. APPOINTMENTS OF HEADS O F DEPARTMENTS IN THE COLLEGE OF COMMERCE A N D BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (6) T h e Board of Trustees has authorized the reorganization of the Department of Business Organization and Operation into five separate departments. T h e Dean of the College now recommends the following appointments to the headships of these departments, effective September I, 1953: Cecil A. Moyer as Professor and Head of the Department of Accountancy, on indefinite tenure, at a salary of $9,400. Arnold C. Condon as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Business Education, on indefinite tenure, at a salary of $7,700. Essel R. Dillavou as Professor and Head of the Department of Business Law, on indefinite tenure, at a salary of $9,500. Merten J. Mandeville as Professor and Head of the Department of Management, on indefinite tenure, at a salary of $8,600. Paul D. Converse as Professor and Head of the Department of Marketing, on indefinite tenure, at a salary of $10,000. In each case the members of the faculty of professorial rank who will be in the new departments have been consulted as required by the University Statutes. The Executive Committee of the College has also been consulted and concurs in the Dean's recommendations. I recommend approval of these appointments. O n m o t i o n of M r . APPOINTMENTS TO T H E FACULTY (7) The following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. 1. WILLIAM A. ALLEE, Assistant Professor of Business Education, in the Department of Business Education, College of Commerce and Business Administration, beginning September 1, 1953, at an annual salary of $5,000 ( B ) . 2. JOHN W . BARNARD, Research Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Engineering Experiment Station, beginning August 1, 1953, at an annual salary of $10,000 ( D Y ) . 3. JOHN B. HALL, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine, beginning September I, 1953, without salary ( D Y ) . 4. WERNER KANZIG, Research Assistant Professor of Physics, beginning October I, 1953, at an annual salary of $5,700 ( D Y ) . 5. JOSEPH L. LASKER, Associate Professor of Art, beginning September 1, 1953, at an annual salary of $6,300 ( D ) . 6. GILBERT LING, Assistant Professor of Neurophysiology, in the Department of Psychiatry, beginning June 15, 1953, at an annual salary of $6,000 ( D Y ) .
