H e has now requested an extension of his present leave of absence without salary from July I through August 31, 1953. I recommend that this extension of leave be granted but that the additional leave during July and August be on full pay because ( a ) he is entitled to a month's vacation with pay, and (b) he contemplates making a lecture tour of a month's duration.

On motion of Mr. Nickell, this recommendation was approved.

CURRICULUM IN CITY PLANNING (5) The University Senate has approved for presentation to the Board of Trustees a proposal from the College of Fine and Applied Arts for a new curriculum in city planning leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in City Planning. The curriculum will require a total of 130 semester hours, including physical education and basic military training. The course requirements will include the following: Semester Hours Agricultural Economics 218, Land Economics 3 Art 119 and 120, Design 5 City Planning 272, Theory and Practice of City Planning; 274, Regional Planning; 337 and 338, Advanced Landscape Design; 376, Planning, P r o cedures, Methodologies, and Practice 19 Civil Engineering 115, General Surveying; 118, Surveying for Landscape Architects ; 223, Traffic Engineering 10 Economics 108, Elements of Economics; 109, Principles of Economics 6 General Engineering 107 and 108, Architectural Projections 4 Geography 101, Elements of Geography 5 History 101, Introduction to Social Studies; 371 and 372, American Intellectual and Cultural History 9 Hygiene 101, Health Lectures 2 Landscape Architecture 112, Survey of Environmental Planning and Design; 133 and 134, Elementary Landscape Design; 214, Critical History of Planning and Design; 235, Design of Recreational A r e a s ; 236, Intermediate Landscape Design; 243 and 244, Landscape Construction 25 Mathematics 117, Combined Freshman Mathematics; 161, Statistics 8 Military (basic), for men 4 Physical Education 4 Political Science 305, Municipal Government; 306, Municipal Problems 6 Rhetoric 101 and 102, Freshman Rhetoric and Composition 6 Sociology 276, Sociology of the City 3 Total 119 Electivcs to total 130 hours. It is recommended that this curriculum be established September 1, 1953. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this recommendation was approved.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO CURRICULA IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, LANDSCAPE OPERATION, AND CITY PLANNING (6) T h e University Senate has approved for presentation to the Board of Trustees a recommendation from the College of Fine and Applied Arts that the requirements for admission to the curricula in landscape architecture, landscape operation, and city planning be uniform with the requirements for admission in the curriculum in architecture. The effect of this change will be to add onehalf unit of algebra to the one unit of algebra and one unit of geometry now constituting the mathematics requirement for admission to the curricula in landscape architecture and landscape operation. Admission will be granted without this additional one-half unit in algebra, on condition that the deficiency be removed during the first year, as is authorized in the case of the curriculum in architecture. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Nickell, this recommendation was approved.
