MAY AND J U N E MEETINGS The B o a r d h a d previously voted to hold its M a y meeting on S a t u r d a y , May 23, 1953, at Robert Allerton P a r k . T h e S e c r e t a r y reported that Allerton H o u s e has two other meetings scheduled for M a y 23, and suggested that the Board meeting be held in the Mini U n i o n Building, beginning at 11:00 a.m. ( C . D . S . T . ) . U n a n i m o u s consent was given to this change. O n motion of M r s . W a t k i n s , the B o a r d voted to hold its J u n e meeting on Monday, J u n e 22, 1953, beginning at 11:00 a.m. ( C . D . S . T . ) , at Urbana or at Allerton P a r k and that the President and the S e c r e t a r y of the B o a r d be authorized to determine the place of the meeting. On motion of M r s . Holt, the B o a r d adjourned. L a t e r in the d a y all m e m b e r s of the Board present at this meeting visited the D e p a r t m e n t of Speech L a b o r a t o r y to witness a demonstration of the machine for time compression of accoustical signals invented by P r o f e s s o r G r a n t F a i r b a n k s , D e a n William L. Everitt, and Mr. R o b e r t P . Jaeger.
