174. Field Foundation, $26,000 for a study of psychosomatic disorders in children, under the direction of Doctors Margaret Gerard, Department of Psychiatry, and Julius B. Richmond, Department of Pediatrics, for two years beginning September 1, 1952. (This grant is payable quarterly; the first two payments of $6,500 each have been received.) 175. Lakeland Foundation: a. $6,475 for the renewal of a grant for the cancer diagnostic test, under the direction of Dr. A. C. Ivy of the Department of Clinical Science, for one year beginning July I, 1952. b. $7,092.85 for research on isolation of the growth stimulating and inhibiting agents from the liver or intestinal mucosa, under the direction of Dr. A. C. Ivy, for the period April I to September 30, 1952. 176. Leukemia Research Foundation, Inc., Chicago, $3,900 for research on the role of amino acid deficiencies in nucleic acid metabolism of spontaneous mouse leukemia, under the direction of Dr. H . G. Poncher of the Department of Pediatrics. 177. Life Insurance Medical Research Fund, $300 for expenses supplementing a fellowship in the Department of Biological Chemistry, under the direction of Dr. S. B. Binkley. 178. John and Mary Markle Foundation, New York, New York, $18,000 for graduate scholarships in the medical sciences. 179. National Vitamin Foundation, New York, New York, $3,600 for a study of Carnitine (Vitamin B T ) levels in the blood, urine, and skeletal muscle of healthy individuals and in patients suffering with nutritional disease, under the supervision of Dr. Robert M. Kark of the Department of Medicine, for one year beginning July 1, 1952. 181. Playtex P a r k Research Institute, $2,500 for research in the Department of Pediatrics, under the supervision of Dr. H. A. Waisman. 182. Pope Foundation, Chicago, $2,500 for continuation of studies to establish dynamic technics for analysis of neurotnuscular-skeletal pathology, under the direction of Dr. H . W. Kendell of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, beginning May 1, 1952. 183. Sigma Pi Sigma Cerebral Palsy Research Fund, $1,608.33 for studies in the Department of Physical Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Frances A. Hellebrandt. (This grant was transferred from the Medical College of Virginia.) 184. American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, $25 to the Occupational Therapy Gift Fund and $25 to the Anonymous Gift Fund, Department of Psychiatry. 185. American Cancer Society, Inc., New York, New York: a. $4,915.86 for research on cyclic organs of reproduction, under the direction of Dr. H. R. Catchpole of the Department of Pathology, for one year beginning July 1, 1951. b. $5,260.70 for research on chemotherapy of mouse leukemia, under the direction of Dr. Arthur Kirschbaum of the Department of Anatomy, for one year beginning July 1, 1951. 186. American Medical Association: a. $25 to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Gift Fund. b. $400 for studies on the action of curarizing agents in myasthenia gravis, under the direction of Doctors C. C. Pfeiffer and K. R. W . Unna of the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine. 187. American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers, New York, New York, $6,500 for an investigation of the physiological adjustments of human beings to sudden changes in atmospheric environment, under the supervision of Dr. F . K. Hick of the Department of Medicine, for one year beginning July 1, 1951. 188. Asthmatic Children's Aid, Chicago, $10,000 in support of research investigative work, under the supervision of Dr. Ben Z. Rappaport of the Department of Medicine, for one year beginning July I, 1952.
