Appointments to Nonacademic Staff The Director of Nonacademic Personnel reports the following appointments to supervisory positions of upper level responsibility. 1. WALTER F. BAILEY, Senior Accountant, Agriculture Administration, beginning February 1, 1954, at an annual salary of $4,800. 2. JOAN E. FLEMING, Assistant Food Production Manager, Residence Halls, beginning February 10, 1954, at an annual salary of $3,600. 3. M R S . MAHJORIE C. HUSE, Technical Computer, Physics, beginning February 15, 1954, at an annual salary of $3,300. 4. LEROY J. VOTAVA, Placement Officer, Office of Nonacademic Personnel, Chicago Professional Colleges, beginning January 25, 1954, at an annual salary of $3,4&>5. JEROME L. WITTELS, Electronics Engineer, Physics-Betatron, beginning February I, 1954, at an annual salary of $4,680. 6. LOUISA M. ZILLER, Assistant Food Production Manager, Residence Halls, beginning January 5, 1954, at an annual salary of $3,600.

On motion of Mr. Grange, these appointments were confirmed.

APPOINTMENT OF FRANK E. SCHOOLEY AS DIRECTOR OF BROADCASTING (7) I recommend the appointment of F r a n k E. Schooley, now Assistant Professor of Journalism and Communications and Manager of Radio Station W I L L, as Associate Professor of Journalism and Communications and Director of University Broadcasting effective today at a salary of $10,000 per year on Y basis. He will also hold the positions of Manager of the Radio Station and Manager of the Television Station. This appointment is recommended by the Committee on University Broadcasting and is to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Director Robert B. Hudson. Mr. Schooley has a long record of service to the University. He has been for many years Manager of W I L L and W I U C - F M. H e has held almost every position of responsibility and honor in the National Association of Educational Broadcasters and is now serving as Treasurer of that Association. Last year he also served as Director of the Kellogg Project and was Executive Secretary of the National Association of Educational Broadcasters. During Mr. Hudson's leaves of absence, Mr. Schooley took over the responsibilities of the directorship.

On motion of Mr. Nickell, this appointment was approved.

APPOINTMENTS TO THE 1 9 5 4 SUMMER SESSION STAFF (8) I submit recommendations for appointments to the faculty for the 1954 summer session. T h e appointments and the budget provide for an eight-week session at Urbana-Champaign and at the Chicago Undergraduate Division, beginning June 18 and continuing through August 14.
