I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Wilmington, Delaware: a. $30,000 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for fundamental research for the academic years 1953-1954 and 1954-1955. b. $500 to the Department of Agronomy for research on weed control. 114. Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, Niagara Chemical Division Middleport, New York: a. $1,200 to the Department of Horticulture for research on chemical thinning of fruit trees. b. $500 to the Department of Agronomy for research on chemical control of weeds. 115. General Aniline and Film Corporation, General Aniline Works, New York, New York, $1,800 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for the renewal of a research assistantship for the academic year 1953-1954. 116. Illinois Farm Supply Company, $2,000 to supplement research programs in the Departments of Animal Science and Dairy Science. 117. Illinois Seed Producers Association, Inc., $6,183.21 to the Department of Agronomy for corn research. 118. Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, $3,000 to the Bureau of Educational Research for a public school finance study in the state of Illinois. 119. Inter-University Labor Education Committee (funds supplied by the Ford Foundation), $17,500 for participation of the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations with other universities in labor education programs. Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, $1,500 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for research on triterpene and steroids for one year beginning January I, 1954. 121. Midwest Barley Improvement Association, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, $200 tc the Department of Agronomy for barley variety fertilizer tests. 122. Mrs. C. Phillip Miller, Chicago, $2,296 to be added to the Sinnissippi Forest Trust Fund in support of forestry research. 123. Monsanto Chemical Company, Dayton, Ohio, $1,000 to the Department of Animal Science for a study of cattle feed supplements. 124. National Livestock and Meat Board, $2,600 to the Department of Physiology for a study of the effects of a sustained diet of meat for one year on nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium metabolism. 125. National Science Foundation, Washington, D.C., in support of the following research: a. $5,000 for research on metal complexes in resolution of optically active organic substances, under the direction of Professor John C. Bailar, Jr., Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (G280). b. $11,800 for research on properties of glacial till, under the direction of Professor George W. White, Department of Geology (G443). c. $5,300 for research on transference numbers of salts in non-aqueous solvents, under the direction of Dr. B. Roger Ray, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (G484). 126. National Vitamin Foundation, Inc., New York, New York, $4,950 to the Department of Animal Science for studies of the mechanism of vitamin B12 activity. 127. Northern Illinois Breeding Association and the Southern Illinois Breeding Association, $10,000 to the Department of Dairy Science for research in artificial insemination. 128. Pennsylvania Salt Manufacturing Company, $500 to the Department of Agronomy for weed studies. 129. P u r e Milk Association, $1,000 to the Department of Food Technology for a study to develop new types of dairy spreads. 130. Riverdale Chemical Company, Harvey: a. $500 to the Natural History Survey for entomological research. b. $1,000 to the Department of Agronomy for research on weed control. 131. The Rockefeller Foundation, New York, New York: a. $25,000 to the Department of Entomology for research under the direction of Professor G. S. Fraenkel, for three years beginning July I, 1953.
