MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS November 20, 1953 The November meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the LaSalle Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, on Friday, November 20, 1953, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The following members were present: Mr. Cushman B. Bissell, Mr. Wirt Herrick, Mrs. Doris S. Holt, Mr. Wayne A. Johnston, Mr. Park Livingston, Mr. Herbert B. Megran, Mr. Vernon L. Nickell, and Mrs. Frances B. Watkins. Mr. Harold E. Grange, Mr. Robert Z. Hickman, and Governor William G. Stratton were absent. Also present were Dr. Lloyd Morey, Acting President of the University, Provost Henning Larsen, Mr. Ralph F. Lesemann, Legal Counsel, Director C. S. Havens of the Physical Plant Department; and the officers of the Board, Messrs. H. O. Farber, Acting Comptroller, C. W. Weldon, Treasurer, and A. J. Janata, Secretary. During a recess taken at 7:00 p.m., the following joined the meeting: Mr. J. F. Wright, Director of Public Relations, Dean E. R. Series, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Chicago Professional Colleges, Dean Allan G. Brodie of the College of Dentistry, Acting Dean Roger A. Harvey of the College of Medicine, and Director Leslie A. Bryan of the Institute of Aviation; Messrs. Marc C. Norton, President of the First National Bank in Champaign and Executor of the Estate of George A. Miller, J. G. Thomas, Attorney for the Estate, and Wayne R. Bennett, Vice-President of the Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago. "59
