resolution should be adopted authorizing Herbert O. Farber, as Acting Comptroller, to delegate authority to sign his name to such orders to the same persons Lloyd Morey, as Comptroller, was authorized to delegate authority to sign his name thereto in the resolution of March 25, 1953. Therefore, I recommend that the following resolution be adopted. WHEREAS, under the rules of, and authority heretofore granted by this Board of Trustees, orders for the purchase and sale of securities addressed to the First National Bank of Chicago, as safekeeping agent and investment counsel for this Board of Trustees, are signed by the Acting Comptroller and the Secretary of this Board in its behalf; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that these officers be authorized to delegate authority to others to act for and sign their names in connection with such orders; Therefore, be it resolved by this Board of Trustees that A. J. Janata, as Secretary of this Board of Trustees, be and he is hereby authorized to delegate to Everett G. Smith, Executive Clerk in the Office of the President of the University, to Maude Archdeacon, Chief Clerk in the Office of this Board of Trustees, and to G. R. Moon, Examiner and Recorder for the Chicago Professional Colleges of the University, authority to sign his name to orders for such purchases and sales of securities as have been or are approved by this Board or by its committees acting under due authority; and that Herbert O. Farber, Acting Comptroller, be and he is hereby authorized to delegate to C. C. DeLong, University Bursar, and H. A. Hazleton, Business Manager at the University's Chicago Colleges and Divisions, authority to sign his name to such orders when given pursuant to such approval.

On motion of Mr. Johnston, this resolution was adopted by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Bissell, Mr. Grange, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Megran, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins; no, none; absent, Mr. Stratton.

REAPPROPRIATION OF UNEXPENDED BALANCES AT J U N E 3 0 , 1 9 5 3 (9) The Acting Comptroller recommends that the following balances in appropriations for services and projects not completed on June 30, 1953, be reappropriated for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1953. In addition to the appropriations listed below, unexpended balances on June 30, 1953, in departmental appropriations, up to 5 per cent of the original appropriation, were carried forward and will be available in 1953-1954 to the various departments concerned.
