that of these, 141 came to the institution from foreign countries and 15 from the insular possessions of the United States. Thirty-one foreign countries and four of the insular possessions of the United States were represented at the University during the year 1917-18 by one or more students each. For several years the University of Illinois has provided an Adviser* to Foreign Students to assist them in the solution of their special problems and to facilitate the adjustment of their previous educational work with the courses offered at the University. It is worthy of note, that the success which had attended this work at the University of Illinois has resulted in the adoption of the plan by a number of other leading universities. The following tables exhibit the attendance of foreign students at the University of Illinois.
