The preceding tables do not include certain sums appropriated by the legislature to various organizations connected more or less closely with the University, although the funds of such organizations were for a time administered by the Board of Trustees of the University. The State Laboratory of Natural History was removed to the campus of the University of Illinois in 1885. From that time until 1899 the sums appropriated for its work were payable "upon the order of the president of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, attested by its secretary and with the corporate seal of the University. \ \ During this period the following sums were appropriated to the Laboratory:
