GRANT O F F U N D S FROM T H E KRANNERT FOUNDATION FOR ART MUSEUM (21) The Krannert Foundation (the H e r m a n Charles and Ellnora Decker Krannert Foundation) of Indianapolis, Indiana, has approved a grant of $300,000 to the University of Illinois Foundation, to be paid at the rate of $100,000 annually in 1957, 1958, a n d 1959, to be used in the construction of an art museum at the University which is to be erected in close physical relationship to the College of Fine and Applied Arts. This grant is in response to a formal application for the same submitted by President H a r r y F . Glair and Executive Director William H . Butterfield of the University of Illinois Foundation and by the President of the University, and was made through the personal interest of Mr. and Mrs. Krannert, President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Krannert Foundation, in the University's art museum project. I recommend acceptance of this grant. Aside from the generous amount — m ore than half of the estimated cost of the project — of this grant, it has a special significance because it will make the art museum project a reality. Accordingly, I recommend that the museum be named " T h e Krannert Museum." Galleries within the building may be named for other donors to the project and, °f course, special collections will also bear the names of the donors. 1 Deduct.
