CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES ON REHABILITATION OF WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM IN THE RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS (9) The water system in the Illinois Surgical Institute of the Research and Educational Hospitals needs to be modernized and rehabilitated. The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract to the firm of Neiler, Rich, and Bladen, Chicago, for engineering services on the rehabilitation of the hot and cold water systems at a fee of 8 per cent of the cost of the work covered by the construction contracts and any additional work required by the University. It is estimated that the fee will amount to approximately $2,500. Funds are available. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract. O n m o t i o n of M r . CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES ON REPLACEMENT OF ELEVATORS IN THE RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS (10) Two elevators in the Research and Educational Hospitals must be replaced. Holabird and Root and Burgee, Architects and Engineers, Chicago, have submitted a proposal to do the engineering work, including preparation of plans and specifications, at a fee of 5 per cent of the cost of the replacement of the two elevators. The total fee is estimated to be $5,000. Holabird and Root and Burgee are the architects for the new hospital addition and the work on this addition will involve considerable work in the present Research and Educational Hospitals. They will be able to coordinate the replacement of the elevators with the construction of the hospital addition. Funds are available. The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract to Holabird and Root and Burgee for the engineering work on this project. O n m o t i o n of M r . The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an addition to the contract with the John Felmley Company in the amount of $1,759 (see Minutes, August 5, 1947, page 502). Funds are available in the State appropriation for East Chemistry Building equipment for the 1949-1951 biennium.
