SENATE BILL 288. "An Act to amend Sections 30-9 and 30-10 of 'The School Code.'" (Vetoed by the Governor). Provides that each member of the General Assembly may award annually two University of Illinois scholarships instead of one. SENATE BILL 497. "An Act to add Section 9a to 'An Act to regulate the civil service of the State of Illinois.'" (Approved by the Governor). Provides that University of Illinois employees transferring to other civil service positions in Illinois will retain seniority rights.

SENATE BILL 561. "An Act to amend Sections I, 4, 5, 6 and 8 of 'An Act to

provide for reciprocal allowance of credits for retirement, death and disability benefits between the State Employees' Retirement System of Illinois, the University Retirement System of Illinois and the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois, and for the transfer of certain funds between said systems.' " (Approved by the Governor). Provides reciprocity between State, University, and Teachers' Retirement funds. SENATE BILL 545. "An Act to provide for the ordinary and contingent expenses of certain boards, commissions and agencies." (Vetoed in part by the Governor). Includes an appropriation of $826,486 to the Board of Trustees of the University Retirement System of Illinois for necessary operating expenses and reserves of the Retirement System. Other funds are included in appropriations to participating institutions. SENATE BILL 577. "An Act making an appropriation for Air Navigation Facilities." (Approved by the Governor). Includes an appropriation of $3,278,000 to the State Department of Aeronautics for airport development. T h e University has been informed that the Department has planned to assign $50,000 of this appropriation for improvements in the University of Illinois Airport. SENATE BILL 655. "An Act making reappropriations for certain additional ordinary, contingent and distributive expenses of State government." (Vetoed in part by the Governor). An appropriation to the State Department of Public Health for the construction of a State Tuberculosis Hospital in Cook County which includes an item of $280,000 to be applied toward the construction of a central steam heating plant in the Medical Center District. HOUSE BILL 745. "An Act making an additional appropriation to the Medical Center Commission for acquisition of land." (Approved by the Governor). Appropriates $250,000 to the Medical Center Commission for land acquisition. SENATE BILL 635. "An Act to regulate the supervision, accountability and control of all State owned properties, both real and personal, providing certain penalties and repealing an Act therein named." (Approved by the Governor). Directs the State Auditor of Public Accounts to set up a system of inventory control which will make the executive officers of State departments and institutions (in the case of the University of Illinois, the President of the University) accountable to the Auditor for the supervision, control, and inventory of all State-owned property. Requires each responsible State officer to conduct a survey and report such survey under oath before disposal (including trade-ins) of State-owned property.

H O U S E BILL 400. "An Act to amend Sections 2.5, 2.10, 2.16, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.3,

and 5.4 of 'An Act to provide for the creation, maintenance, and administration of a Retirement System for the benefit of the staff members and employees of the University of Illinois and of certain other State educational and scientific agencies.'" (Approved by the Governor). Increases employee contributions to University Retirement System of Illinois from 3*/£ per cent to 5 per cent. HOUSE BILL 226. "An Act to add Section 18-5.1 to 'The School Code.'" ( A p proved by the Governor). Provides for the payment from State funds to school districts of the annual tuition cost of children attending public schools who live in houses on land owned
