The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend that such a contract with the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District be approved. I concur and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR REPOWERING AND RELIGHTING PHYSICS BUILDING (30) On November 19, 1948 (Minutes, page 174), the Board of Trustees appropriated funds for repowering and relighting the Physics Building. On March 10, 1949 (Minutes, page 294), the Board approved the award of contract for the installation of an improved primary service to this building. Funds are also available in the original appropriation by the Board of Trustees for the remodeling, repowering, and relighting of Room 100c and for emergency service to the fourth floor of the Physics Building. The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend that this work be done by the contractors for the general building relighting and repowering as follows: General work Kuhne-Simmons Company, Inc., Champaign ?i 896 Electrical work Square Deal Electric Company, LaPorte, Indiana 2 530 I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute these additions to contracts.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, these additions to contracts were authorized as recommended.

TERMINATION OF CONTRACT FOR TEMPORARY HOUSING UNITS AT GALESBURG UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (31) With the closing of the Galesburg Undergraduate Division, the University will discontinue operating the temporary housing units under a contract with the Public Housing Administration of the United States. This agency has requested the Board of Trustees to adopt the following resolution: Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois executed Contract No. WS-5 (S-709) with the W a r Assets Administration for the property located at Galesburg, Illinois, and known formerly as the Mayo General Hospital, and Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois executed a contract with the Public Housing Administration on the 5th day of November, 1946, for the operation of certain housing units at the site of the former Mayo General Hospital, and Whereas, the University of Illinois did notify the W a r Assets Administration on March 25, 1949, of their intention not to renew the lease for the Mayo General Hospital after September 30, 1949, and Whereas, the need for the operation by the University of Illinois of the temporary housing units will no longer exist by reason of the termination of the lease for the former Mayo General Hospital, Be It Therefore Resolved, that the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby terminates its contract with the Public Housing Administration as of June 30, 1949, subject to the surrender of possession of the various units as vacated by the tenants, but in no event later than September 20, 1949.

On motion of Mr. Fornof, this resolution was adopted.

APPROVAL OF ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION APPROPRIATION (32) The Board of Directors of the Athletic Association appropriated from the reserve funds of the Association the sum of $851 for the purpose of paying the Northern Trust Company the amount due for handling, during the year ending February 6, 1949, pension and insurance accounts for the Athletic Association. Approval of this action by the Board of Trustees is required and I so recommend.

On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this action was approved as recommended.
