DAVID W . BELCHER, Assistant Professor of Management, in the Business Management Service, beginning July i, 1949, at an annual salary of $6,ooo. 2. WILLIAM M. CAPRON, Assistant Professor of Economics, beginning September i, 1949, at an annual salary of $4,500. 3. EDWARD CHAINSKI, Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology, in the College of Medicine, beginning March I, 1949, without salary. 4. JOHN A. VISIT OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY ( i ) Following a custom of many years' standing, the Sixty-sixth General Assembly of Illinois will make its biennial visit to the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign campus) on April 28-29 f ° r the purpose of inspection. A large delegation is expected. The expenses of this visit are paid by the University and the Board has usually made a special appropriation for that purpose. I recotnmend that the Public Functions Fund of the President's Office for the current fiscal year of 1948-1949, be supplemented by an assignment of $2,500 for this purpose. O n m o t i o n of M r . LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DEAN HOWARD R. BOWEN (2) Dean Howard R. Bowen of the College of Commerce and Business Administration has been asked by the Department of the Army to serve on a Commission to review the public finances of Japan during the months of June and July. The purpose of the commission would be to review its tax system and ways and means of balancing its budget and repressing inflation. I recommend that Dean Bowen be given a leave of absence with pay from June 1 to August I, 1949, for this purpose. O n m o t i o n of M r s .
