The following bids have been received for the construction of the two courts: Tennis Court Tennis Courts Contractor No. 1 No. 1 & No. 2 Lynne Meyer, Champaign $6 112 55 ?I2 370 80 Kuhne-Simmons Company, Inc., Champaign and Decatur 6 341 00 12 643 00 C. Petry & Sons, Champaign 6 100 00 12 900 00 Wascher Concrete & Insulation Company, Champaign 6 738 00 14 192 00 Martin Odom, Urbana 9 432 00 19 484 00 The Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend that the contract be awarded to Lynne Meyer, Champaign, for the construction of two tennis courts on the combined bid of $12,370.80.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, this contract was awarded as recommended.

ADDITION TO GENERAL CONTRACT FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING (11) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $4,350 in the general contract with James McHugh Sons, Incorporated, for the construction of the Mechanical Engineering Building to provide for installing a subsoil drainage system through the center area of the building to prevent ground water seepage through the basement floors. It is recommended that this change order be issued on a cost plus basis (actual cost plus 25 per cent of materials cost and 38 per cent of labor) but not to exceed the sum of $4,350Funds are available. I concur and request that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this addition to the contract.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this addition to contract was authorized as recommended.

ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR CONCRETE WALKS AND DRIVES AT URBANA (12) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $2,470 in the contract with the General Paving Company for construction of a new sidewalk along the north side of Green Street through the campus and the Talbot Laboratory service drive. This increase is to provide for widening Burrill Avenue between Green Street and the bridge over the Boneyard. The curbs of this street must be repaired due to changes in driveways resulting from the construction of the new Electrical Engineering Building. The widening of Burrill Avenue at this point will be an improvement and will fit in with the future widening of Burrill Avenue from the Boneyard north to Springfield Avenue, will permit the completion of walks and drives on the east side of the new Electrical Engineering Building, and will provide additional parking space for cars. Funds are available. I concur and request that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this addition to the contract.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, this addition to contract was authorized as recommended.

ADDITION TO PIPING CONTRACT FOR UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AT URBANA (13) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $5,047 in the contract with the W . A. Pope Company, Chicago, for installation of piping in the steam tunnel of the utilities distribution system at Urbana. The work to be done under this addition consists of: ( a ) Installation of University-owned vacuum pump in Loop Vault No. 9 between Mumford Hall and the Animal Genetics Building;
