CONTRACTS FOR NATURAL HISTORY BUILDING REMODELING (27) On February 16, 1950 (Minutes, page 995), the Board of Trustees appropriated funds for the remodeling and equipping of the fifth floor of the Natural History Building in Urbana for the Department of Physiology. Bids have been received for the ventilating and air-conditioning work and for the electrical work as follows: . Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Work Schroeder's, Champaign $15 925 F. R. Inskip and Co., Champaign 16 610 Electrical Work Brunkow Electric Company, Champaign Square Deal Electric, Urbana Potter Electric Service, Urbana 785 1 035 1 299

The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $15,925 to Schroeder's and for $785 to Brunkow Electric Company, the lowest bidders. I concur and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute these contracts.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, these awards were authorized and authority was given as recommended.

CONTRACT FOR LANDSCAPING (28) The following bids were received for the necessary grading and seeding work required in the Stadium Terrace area because of the construction of the sanitary sewer and to complete the landscaping of the housing project at Race and Florida: Florida Avenue Stadium Terrace Housing Area Area Martin Ivey, Urbana $1 020 $1 440 Irving L. Peterson, Champaign I 300 I 400 Gundstrom Company, Inc., Glenview 1 224 1 547 The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend contracts for the work on the Florida Avenue area be awarded to Martin Ivey for $1,020 and for the work on the Stadium Terrace area to Irving L. Peterson for $1,400, the lowest bidders. Funds are available. I concur and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute these contracts. CONTRACTS FOR REMODELING NOYES LABORATORY (2g) The Board of Trustees on November 29, 1949 (Minutes, page 947), appropriated the sum of $50,000 for remodeling and equipping the third and fourth floors of Noyes Laboratory for the Bacteriology Department. Bids have been received for the remodeling work. The bids for the general work were received on a cost plus a fixed fee basis. Since this phase of the work included the installation of equipment, the amount of work required could not be known until the equipment had been definitely selected. The addition of equipment to remodeling made it difficult to obtain firm bids on the total projectOn the basis of the bids received, the total estimated cost of the project is revised to $66,869. The Committee on Nonrecurring Appropriations recommends that an additional appropriation of $16,869 be made. The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend that the following contracts be awarded to the lowest bidders in each case: General work (fixed fee $1,700; estimated total cost exclusive of fee, $17,000) — E.
